WhatsApp backups in Google Drive

1.To use Google Drive backup, you’ll need:

• A Google account is activated on your device.

• Google Play services are installed on your device. This is used to update Google apps and apps from the Google Play Store

• There is enough free space on your device to create the backup.

• A strong and stable internet connection.

• Tapmore options > Settings > Chats > Chat backup > Back up to Google Drive.

• Select a backup frequency other than Never.

• Select the Google account to which you’d like to back up your chat history.

• If you don't have a Google account connected, tap Add account when prompted and enter your login credentials.

• Tap Back up to choose the network you want to use for backups.

• Note: Backing up over a cellular data network might result in additional data charges.

3. Turn on end-to-end encrypted backup

• For an additional layer of security, you can turn on end-to-end encryption for your Google Drive backup.

• Tapmore options > Settings > Chats > Chat backup > End-to-end encrypted backup.

• Tap TURN ON.

• Create a password or use a 64-digit encryption key instead.

• Tap Create to create your end-to-end encrypted backup.

4. Manually back up to Google Drive

• You can also manually back up your chats to Google Drive anytime.

• Tapmore options > Settings > Chats > Chat backup > Back up.

5. Configure your Google Drive backup settings

• Change the frequency of your Google Drive backup

• Tapmore options > Settings > Chats > Chat backup > Back up to Google Drive.

• Select a backup frequency.

6. Change the account you want to use for backups

• Tapmore options > Settings > Chats > Chat backup > Google Account.

• Select the Google account to which you’d like to back up your chat history.

• Note: If you change your Google account, you’ll lose access to any backups saved in that account.
